What our server log shows about AI bots is simple: on the day this site went live, some AI crawlers arrived within hours, before a single guide was public.
The count
The log covers 29 October 2026 only, and the site is new, so every number is small. Requests are matched on the user-agent string; where the vendor publishes an IP list, we also checked the address.
| Bot | Requests | Requests from an IP in the vendor list |
|---|---|---|
| GPTBot | 136 | 136 |
| ClaudeBot | 46 | not checked, no list used |
| Claude-User | 31 | not checked, no list used |
| OAI-SearchBot | 2 | 2 |
The log held 1,572 requests in total that day. Every other bot we looked for, including PerplexityBot, bingbot and YandexBot, shows zero in this file.
Reading it carefully
- GPTBot is OpenAI's training crawler, so 136 verified requests say nothing about ChatGPT search citing us.
- OAI-SearchBot, the crawler for ChatGPT search, made 2 requests, both verified.
- ClaudeBot and Claude-User rows rest on the user-agent alone, which can be faked.
- One day is not a trend. We will keep publishing the counts, zeros included, on the data page.
